What we offer

Gardner Road is a high-quality and affordable Kindergarten that has been providing pre-school education for local families/whanau for over 50 years.

Our Kindergarten is licensed for 37 children per session and we employ 6 fully-qualified teachers.
Our session ratio of 1 fully qualified teacher for every 8 children is well above the national standard for 3 to 5 year olds.
Compare this to other local Kindergartens and you'll understand why Gardner Road children get more dedicated one-on-one attention.
Creating confident, competent learners
We are well known in the community and by our local schools for helping preschoolers develop basic numeracy and literacy skills before they go to school.
Our caring and challenging learning environment also encourages important life skills such as respect for themselves and others, inquisitiveness, confidence, independence and a love of learning.
Putting our children first

Our collaborative, community approach ensures that the children's best interest's are always the key priority.

Our not-for-profit status ensures that funds are used for the children’s benefit and not making money.
"I need encouraging adults to help me do it my way."
Meet our team

We believe that well-qualified and experienced teachers are essential in developing a curriculum/Te Whariki that is responsive, inclusive, engaging, cooperative and fun.

Our teachers love what they do. Their enthusiasm brings a wonderful sense of fun, stability and family to the Kindergarten.

All our staff undertake ongoing professional development and training and hold current First Aid Certificates.
Our friendly Office Manager ensures that kindy life functions smoothly and is here to answer your questions about enrolment and the Kindergarten.
Fundraising
Fundraising enables us to maintain the high standards we are so proud of here at Gardner Road Kindergarten.
Government funding only covers teachers' salaries and the general day-to-day running costs. So session fees, community grants and fundraising are necessary to replace equipment and materials, develop grounds and buildings.
Parent participation is vital to the success of our fundraising efforts. Our events are great fun and provide wonderful opportunities to get to know other families and our teachers.
Our Committee
A committee of dedicated parents work closely with our families/whanau, the Head Teacher and staff to manage the Kindergarten and raise funds.
The committee give their time on a voluntary basis, which means that the kindergarten has access to professional expertise at no cost and a management team who put our children's needs first.
The committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting held in the first term of each year. Please consider joining.
Parent involvement
Our children definitely benefit from seeing their parents' involvement and interest in the Kindergarten.
Parents (or family members/whanau) are encouraged to help whenever they can.
To ensure the number of adults in the Kindergarten at any one time is not overwhelming, parents can fill in which sessions suit them on a roster.
